Frequently Asked Questions
Here is a a list of questions that are
frequently asked concerning Precision Incorporated and vehicle
maintenance. Please check back often as this list might
grow to include additional facts and responses. Although
every effort has been made to ensure their accuracy, please read
our disclaimer before examining the
following information:
Will Servicing My Car with Precision Void My Factory Warranty?
Absolutely not! Federal laws that protect
consumer’s rights allow Precision Incorporated to maintain your
vehicles, while also satisfying all of the manufacturer’s
requirements that keep your car’s warranty valid.
What Is the
Guarantee On Parts and Labor?
We guarantee all of our workmanship for 3 full
years or 36,000 miles and we guarantee all parts for 12,000
miles or 1 year. We also guarantee all of our services to meet
the manufacturer’s requirements and if we fail, we will pay for
the resulting repairs to your vehicle!
What is the Difference Between Service and Warranty Work?
These two terms are often confused and
interchanged, but they are very different. Service work is the
maintenance one has to perform on the vehicle to maintain its
factory warranty. Warranty work is the work done free of charge
by the manufacturer’s dealer for any part of the vehicle that
fails prematurely. Precision Incorporated is always cheaper than
the dealer on Service work and will refer you back to the dealer
if we see a defect that will be paid for by the manufacturer
under warranty.
Do You Use
Original Honda And Acura Parts?
YES! Precision has the single largest
independently owned inventory of original Honda and Acura parts
in the state of Arizona. We can get your car back on the road
fast because we stock the parts your car will need. No other
independent shop is even close.
What
Service Is My Car Due For?
Our trained service staff will advise you of
necessary service based on your mileage and vehicle use. If you
are a returning Precision customer, then our one-of-a-kind Honda
and Acura specific computer system will send out reminders to
your home, as well as print the reminders onto each of your
Service Invoices as it sees the service intervals coming due.
Can
I get My Car back The Same Day?
Yes! The vast majority of all cars are
returned to their owners the same day they are brought in for
service. In the rare circumstance that we need your vehicle more
than one day we will let you know well in advance so necessary
arrangements can be made.
If My Car
Stays Over Night Will It Be Secure?
All cars brought to us before our 5:30 PM
closing time will be locked inside our building where they are
under 24 hour surveillance by a state of the art building
security system.
Can I Wait For My Car While It Is Being Repaired or Serviced?
Certainly. We have a comfortable customer
waiting area with direct visibility to the work being performed
on your vehicle. Because we work by appointment we are able to
start on your car immediately so that you are not kept waiting.
Because we have inventory on hand and our Honda and Acura
specific tooling ready to go, your car will be back to you in
short order.
Do You Do Oil
Changes?
Yes. People tend to think these minimal
services are not that important, but the truth is they are
critical to the vehicle’s longevity and this is the reason we
prefer to perform these services for the public. Our trained
eyes on your car, even during an oil change, catch many things
that might be overlooked by the kid at the Monkey Lube Oil Pit
place.
Do You Offer
Loaner Cars Or Rental Cars?
We will gladly get you a discounted price on a
rental car that will be brought directly to the shop to pick you
up, but we do not offer loaner cars. We are constantly trying to
keep our overhead costs low to keep our prices low and loaner
cars may be convenient, but ultimately the consumer is paying
for the convenience in the higher price of repairs. This is one
of the reasons Precision can work at $8.00 - $10.00 less per
hour than the dealerships.
What if My
Car Needs Towing?
In the event your car needs to be towed to
Precision, we recommend calling our 24-hour towing service at
520-748-1100. Our discounted rate will save you
money. If the car must be towed after our normal business
hours, our towing service has been instructed to secure your
car for the evening and provide us with the keys. Towing
charges will be applied to your Repair Order so there is no
need to pay cash to the driver. It would also be helpful if
you could Make an Appointment
and describe the nature of the car's problem and to give us
your contact information.
Do I
Always Need an Appointment?
No. We understand that appointments can not
always be made for a variety of reasons and this is the reason
we under-schedule each day. By under-scheduling our staff we
leave room for emergencies and unexpected events. We offer
appointments to those customers who prefer priority service and
we encourage appointments for all routine maintenance.
Can You Do
Recall Repairs?
No. Recalls are to be done by Authorized
Dealers only. Precision will inform you of recalls that we are
aware of for your particular vehicle.
Are You Less Expensive Than the Dealer?
Absolutely! Apples to apples comparisons are
hard to make in our industry, but we guarantee our prices will
be less than the dealership in every apples to apples
comparison.
Can I Supply
My Own Parts?
Yes. We do not encourage this approach to
repair, but we will do it at your request. We will only
guarantee our workmanship when we install your parts. If your
part fails you will have to pay for our labor twice. Any money
saved is often lost if anything goes wrong i.e. miss diagnosis,
defective part etc. You wouldn’t take your own steak to the
restaurant and ask the chef to cook it for you would you?
When
Do I Replace My Timing Belt?
While Honda and Acura have wavered between
60,000 and 90,000 mile intervals from year to year, Precision
has always maintained 60,000 miles to be the magic number. We
have concluded from our experience in repairing hundreds of
vehicles suffering timing belt failure at mileages of less than
90,000 that it is better to be safe than sorry. Timing belt failures
leave you stranded and cost a great deal of money and time to
repair, so don’t risk a failure when it is so easy to just
replace the timing belt preventatively at 60,000 mile intervals.
Why Should the Water Pump Be Replaced With The Timing Belt?
The timing belt drives the water pump on
almost all late model Honda and Acura products so a water pump
failure can cause the same potential engine damage as a timing
belt failure. The water pump is easily accessible when replacing
the timing belt and because of the interrelationship with the
timing belt the only way to insure future reliability is to
replace the water pump when you replace the timing belt.
How Many
Miles Can I Expect Out Of My Car?
Our regular customers are all enjoying extremely
long lived cars. We have many customers over 200,000 miles,
several over 300,000 miles and a few over 400,000 miles! All of
these cars are on their first engines! Honda and Acura build
awesome cars and with our help you can get the most out of your
hard earned dollar. Don’t overlook the little things like
regular oil changes and periodic maintenance because this is the
key to your vehicle’s longevity.
